Welcome Message

Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the organizing committee, I am truly honored and delighted to take this opportunity to welcome you to the International Conference on Underwater Medicine and Coastal Health 2018.

The conference is an effort to implement the vision of the Faculty of Medicine, Hang Tuah University in the field of maritime health. Around 70% of earth is covered with water, and Indonesia is the biggest archipelago country. Therefore, we need to increase our consideration to carry out underwater and coastal health researches. This year's conference brings a theme "Underwater Medicine and Coastal Health For The Future", with an array of topics, including Hyperbaric Therapy, Diving Medicine, Coastal Community Health, Port Health, Marine Life for Health, and Marine Health in the curriculum of undergraduate degree of medicine.

The ICOME will provide an opportunity to network with others with similar interests, to hear and discuss the views of acknowledge experts, to take part in workshops and to present your own work through a short communication or poster.

The conference will be held on 27-28 July 2018 in the city of heroes, Surabaya, Indonesia. Despite its tropical weather, Surabaya is known for its sustainable city and human settlement award, the diversity and quality of its cuisine, a blended between modern and traditional culture, mangrove eco-tourism, international harbour and airport, and is a transit for tourists before heading to Bromo Mountain, Malang, Banyuwangi and Bali.

It is my hope that you get a chance to explore Surabaya and its surroundings, and enjoy the exotic and vibrant atmosphere of our city.

It is a great privilege for me to serve as the Chair of the ICOME 2018 and it is my hope that you will find the conference stimulating, fulfilling and enjoyable. I am looking forward to seeing you at the conference!
